Application Deadline

Friday, November 20th at 11:59 PM

Last year, day-of walk-in registrations have been accepted, but this year, we will not be accepting float applications after the deadline.

This application deadline will be a HARD CUTOFF to allow us to plan and organize the event in advance.

Information for Participants

Registration Fee: $15 per entry

Eligibility: Anyone can enter the parade! Floats, cars, horses, walkers, and more are all welcome to participate in the parade!

This Year’s Theme: Merry and Bright

Decoration Guidelines: In general, some form of Christmas, holiday, or winter-themed decoration is required. Every entry must be decorated in some way, such as with Christmas lights, bows, hats, ornaments, garland, or other festive decorations.

Since this is a night parade, participants are strongly encouraged to incorporate lights or other illuminated decorations into their entry. Lighting not only adds to the festive atmosphere but also helps entries stand out and remain visible along the parade route.

All decorations and lighting should be securely attached and must not obstruct the driver’s visibility or interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle.

Float Size Requirements: Floats of any size are eligible to register, however, for the safety of other participants, we need to know the size of the vehicles in your entry or float by the registration deadline (Friday, November 21 at 11:59 PM). We will determine the order of the parade based on several factors, one of them being the size of the float and/or vehicles registered. If you decide to bring a different vehicle or float than the one you mentioned in your registration, YOU MUST NOTIFY US.

Day-Of Staging: FCHS Parking Lot 1:30-4:00 PM

We will start lining up floats in the Floyd County High School parking lot at 1:30PM. Feel free to bring any last minute decorations with you and decorate your vehicles/float in the parking lot while you wait. Floats will need to ready and done before the parade starts!

Roll Out: Around 4:45 PM, we’ll start heading out from the parking lot towards downtown Floyd.

Pacing: We’ll have a pace car in front to set a ‘casual strolling’ pace. At any point in the parade, if you feel like it’s going to fast, feel free to slow down to allow the crowd to enjoy each float!

One Last Rule: NO THROWING CANDY!!! Feel free to HAND out candy, but please don’t throw it!

Parade Broadcast: Citizens plans to provide coverage of this year’s parade. Coverage may include recording the parade for a later television broadcast. Additional viewing information will be shared once details are confirmed.

Animal Entries: Participants bringing horses, dogs, or other animals must follow all animal guidelines.

In addition to the $15 registration fee, all animal entries require a $35 refundable deposit to ensure proper cleanup. Participants are responsible for cleaning up after their animals in all parade areas.

Horse Entries:
– Maximum of 2 horses per entry
– Each person riding or handling a horse must be registered
– All horse riders/handlers must sign an agreement prior to parade day
– Animals must remain under the control of their handler at all times

The $35 deposit will be returned following the parade as long as all cleanup requirements are met. Failure to properly clean up after your animal(s) will result in forfeiture of the $35 deposit and the entry will not be eligible to participate in the following year’s parade.
